Gabe Hughes has always had a strong connection to nature. He expressed a strong desire to be a “worker-man” from a young age, spending time outdoors with his older brother, climbing trees, and exploring nature. Gabe’s appreciation for nature deepened during his education at a Waldorf school, where he spent a lot of time outdoors. In college, he gained hands-on experience with tools and machinery while working for a small-scale construction company.
Before joining Momentum Tree Experts, Gabe worked for over three years as a guide for Open Sky Wilderness Therapy. He also taught Kindergarten at a Waldorf-inspired preschool in Mancos. After realizing teaching wasn’t his long-term passion, Gabe transitioned into tree care and joined Momentum.
Gabe loves tree care because it combines fun, challenge, and connection to nature. He enjoys climbing into the canopy and positioning himself safely for tree work. The physicality and complexity of the work are what keep him engaged. Gabe stays up-to-date with the latest arboriculture practices because he is considering tree care as a long-term career. He is eager to learn as much as possible.
In his free time, Gabe enjoys mountain biking, paddling on the river, running in nature, reading, and practicing yoga and meditation. He recently completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, deepening his commitment to personal growth and wellness.
Gabe believes tree care has a profound impact on the environment and community. By supporting the longevity of trees and educating clients, Gabe helps create a ripple effect that extends to the broader community.
