Momentum Lights Up Snowdown

At 6:00 PM on January 31, 2025, the Snowdown Light Parade, hosted by Purgatory Resort, illuminated Downtown Durango, drawing crowds despite street and parking closures along the parade route. Volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran safely and smoothly for all.

“That’s about a million bubbles in the air,” Moses, the owner of Momentum Tree Experts, remarked from his festively lit-up bucket truck. From there, arborists operated a machine that released billowing, smoke-filled bubbles into the street below. Onlookers watched in wonder as each delicate white bubble popped, sending a small puff of smoke into the air.

Each year, judges award prizes for the best floats in various categories, including “Best in Parade,” “Best Use of Theme,” “Best Bribe,” “Best Lights,” “Best Balloon,” “Best ‘What the F%#k Was That?,'” and “Best Kids.”

This year, Momentum’s Tree Experts certainly dazzled the judges with their impressive rope skills, which they use to wrap lights around trees, bucket trucks, and just about anything else you can imagine, earning them a well-deserved win.
