Gavin Andrew is a newcomer to the arboriculture field, bringing a deep appreciation for nature and a strong commitment to learning. After spending five years in the HVAC trade, he realized he preferred living things over machines. That realization pushed him toward tree care, and he hasn’t looked back. Now part of the Momentum team, Gavin takes every opportunity to build his skills and expand his knowledge.

He hasn’t earned formal certifications yet, but he actively studies current practices and gains hands-on experience every day. Gavin feels a strong sense of responsibility to the trees he works on and believes good stewardship benefits the entire ecosystem. He sees tree work as both a science and an art. He finds joy in uncovering a tree’s beauty through structural pruning and deadwood removal.

Rigging projects especially interest him. He enjoys the challenge of working between homes or avoiding delicate plants and finds the payoff rewarding.

Outside of work, Gavin spends his time hunting, rafting, fishing, or climbing in the Durango area. He’s backpacked the Grand Canyon from rim to rim and can sharpen a knife to a hair-popping edge.

Born and raised in Durango, Gavin feels connected to the plants and trees that define the region. He believes that a healthy natural world improves life for both people and animals. His approach to tree care centers on respect for trees, the environment, and the community. Arboriculture gives him a way to give back and grow alongside the trees he serves.
